State Official plates are issued to the top six state officials for use on their state-owned vehicles.
1 = Governor
2 = Lieutenant Governor
3 = Secretary of State
4 = Treasurer
5 = Attorney General
6 = Comptroller
This type was first issued in the mid-late 1930s. The earliest plates are black on aluminum with the “State Official” legend. In the 1940s and 1950s reflectorized scotchlite plates were issued with black letters/numbers. Beginning with the 1957 issue these plates followed the colors of regular passenger car plates but retained the “Official” legend.
