Common

Common Carrier plates were issued to motor freight carriers. They were displayed alongside the usual commercial registration plates.

This type started in the mid 1930s, with simple plates stating the state, year, and “COMMON”. The 1936 plates were yellow on blue, like the passenger car plates for that year. A serial number was added for the 1938 plates. This type did not last too long – it was replaced by PUC plates in the early/mid 1940s.

1937
A serial number was added the following year.

1941
This type was replaced by PUC a year or two after this.
