M.V. Dept

These plates were used by enforcement agents for the Motor Vehicle Department. This function is still in existence today, but it has been a long time since they last used special plates. Their vehicles now use the standard-issue “State” plates with a ‘1’ department code prefix.

I don’t know much else about this type yet, I’ll update this page as I research more.

1940s?

1947 Motor Vehicle Department.
This plate is similar to the thick aluminum 1937-1947 series, but it has a reflective gold background similar to the 1948 plates. This was likely done as an experiment and these plates are very rare. Not all M/V plates from this timeframe are reflectorized like this.

ca. 1948 used until 1956.
